Customer Inge and her Icelandic horse Skuggi, whose official name is Numi van Pfaffenbuck. Skuggi is 18 years old and wears Runa in size 12 on the front and size 11 on the hind hooves.
Why I chose RUNA
I did thorough research online and decided on the RUNA glue-on shoe. Still, I wanted to be sure and asked a few more questions. The contact with Hoofstar was quick and easy via WhatsApp – I got my answer in no time and placed my order.
The first glue-on – with great care
On May 13th, 2025, we got to work – calmly and carefully. Trimming and gluing took us around 2 hours. Not because it was complicated, but because my Icelandic horse has tricky hooves: flat, long, crooked, and uneven in every plane, with slanted walls.
Well prepared thanks to the videos
We watched the tutorial videos until we knew the steps by heart. Still, we had a moment of panic when the glue bottle was almost empty after the first hoof – I had held it vertically and way too much ran out. Lesson learned...
Experience & small optimizations
It went much smoother with the next hooves. I shortened the rear glue tabs a bit. The glue was enough – and I was super proud!
🐎 The feel – noticeably improved
My Icelandic needed a bit of time to adjust – now that his hind hooves were aligned and couldn’t collapse crookedly anymore. But day by day, he moved better. He loves to canter, steps out more boldly, and moves with more energy. When I let him loose, he plays and moves happily – you can tell he feels great.
Follow-up & conclusion
After three days, I had to re-glue the rear tabs. Now, two weeks later, all four inner hind tabs have come off – but the glued shoe still holds. As soon as the weather is dry again (he’s in a paddock), I’ll do a touch-up. I’m still thrilled. My horse is doing great – and I’ll definitely be faster next time!
